The cooperation relationships between Moroccan and Andalusian universities in the field of Mathematics  began more than thirty years ago. Initially between the universities of Granada and Rabat, thanks to the personal efforts of professors Ángel Rodríguez Palacios and Amin Kaidi. These relationships were extended to the Faculty of Sciences in Tetouan with the valuable support of the dean Layachi Imlahi, who encouraged the Algebra and its Applications Research Team of the Department of Mathematics, with many other Andalusian universities, to start the first scientific cooperation projects in the context of institutional cooperation (Projects financed by the “Junta de Andalucía”, or by “the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation”, etc.).

Within the framework of these conventions, the Algebra and its Applications  Research Team  of the Faculty of Sciences in Tetouan, organized a series of scientific activities  (more than  10 international conferences, among them two Hispano-Maghrebin in 1989 and 2006,  and two others Moroccan-Andalusian in 2001 and 2007).  The first Moroccan Andalusian meeting on algebras and their Applications, gathered many researchers from Andalusian and Moroccan universities, and other European universities (Oviedo, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Murcia, Paris, Reims and Montpellier). Subsequently, in collaboration with the universities of Almería, Cádiz, Granada and Málaga, The Algebra and its Applications Research Team organized the second Moroccan Andalusian meeting on Algebras and their Applications. These meetings allowed our Research Team to bind solid and effective relationships with national and foreign research groups. From these relationships, a large number of students and professors  took the opportunity  to make  further progress in several  domains of mathematics, which gave to the group an active dynamic crowned by:

  • Publication of many research papers in international mathematical Journals,
  • Preparation of a large number  of doctoral thesis,
  • Participation at national and international conferences,
  • Research stays and visits,
  • Organization of conferences, schools,
  • Establishment of common research projects, etc.

In purpose to maintain this dynamic, the Algebra and its Applications Research Team at the faculty of Sciences in Tetouan intends to organize in the city of Chefchaouen, from 12th  to 14th of April 2018:

« The 3rd Moroccan Andalusian Meeting on Algebras and their Applications »

The objectives of this conference are multiple: the first one is scientific, the second is to pay tribute to those who contributed more than 30 years ago to the relations of cooperation between the Moroccan and Andalusian universities in the field of mathematics. This meeting is going to gather  about  100 coming researchers, most part Spanish and Moroccan universities, and will take place in the magnificent city of Chefchaouen, where subsisting Arab-Andalusian traditions. It will be also an opportunity for the participants to review the evolution of their disciplines, to expose their new results and to discuss the future perspectives. It is also the occasion for the young researchers to present their works. This meeting will certainly give a qualitative jump in the relations of cooperation and will allow developing new research projects and new cooperation relationships. The holding of these meetings will undoubtedly give a systematic advance to  the mathematical research.

The Abdelmalek Essaadi University and the Faculty of Science of Tetouan were always the main sponsors of all our scientific activities. But the opening of our Research team to other institutions brings more brilliance to our university. On the other hand, the participation of other regional institutions to the organization of this meeting strengthens the integration of the university in its environment.

Topics of the Meeting:

  • Algebraic and Analytic Aspects  of Nonassociative structures
  • Associative Algebras and their representations.
  • Applications.
